About this course
In this course, Dr. Masica Jordan-Alston (Ph.D.; founder of Jordan Peer Recovery; Professor, University of Maryland’s Bowie State University; LCPC; peer recovery specialist) cites the grim statistics that spell poor outcomes for marginalised groups, such as BIPOC and Latinx individuals. Against the backdrop of less access to education and healthcare than what white individuals have, there is hope in the form of some emergent technologies, which can reduce the health and education inequities which predict poorer outcomes. Telehealth sessions, gaming and virtual reality, apps on prescription, and Dr. Jordan-Alston’s own Re-entry Pocket Peer app are all highlighted for the role that they are playing in creating culturally responsive practices and opportunities.
