About this course
In this course, Dr. Sally Spencer-Thomas, Psy.D., psychologist, professional speaker, and impact entrepreneur, explains the rationale for why innovative resources have been needed for at-risk men; simply, four out of five people who die by suicide are men. After two years of “listening to” (survey and other research focused on) what men wanted and needed, Spencer-Thomas and associates developed the Man Therapy site, which has goals of creating social change among men and the general population about mental health and overall wellness. The site aims to empower men to take ownership of and action on their mental health and overall wellness through self-screening and outreach. Importantly, its longer-term goals are to reduce suicidal thoughts and deaths from suicide among men. Spencer-Thomas shares not only materials from the humorous, highly engaging site, but also the highly positive evaluations the program has received.
