About this course
In this course, Dr. Constance West looks at the types of non-combat military-related trauma (NCMRT) experienced by veterans. Setting the scene with a review of definitions, prevalence rates of trauma, and number and type of symptoms for diagnosis of P.T.S.D. by the DSM-5, she goes on to differentiate combat-related trauma from non-combat military-related trauma. Common types of NCMRT are discussed extensively, as well as common barriers to assessment. Dr. West also lists a number of “red flags” for NCMRT to which discerning health providers should be attentive.
