<p>Anthony Smith has established a national profile in Australian suicide prevention. He is the author of <em>Default Depression: How we now interpret human distress as mental illness, </em>and with Melissa Raven, co-authored <em>Language Matters - Appropriate language guide for supporting people in distress.</em> He also co-authored the <em>Situational Approach</em> papers and other suicide prevention papers and research.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Anthony has a long history of activity in a range of suicide prevention settings.&nbsp;He currently has a role as an investigator working with the Critical and Ethical Mental Health (CEMH) group at the University of Adelaide on a major federally-funded suicide prevention research project investigating unemployment and suicide (<a href="https://www.adelaide.edu.au/robinson-research-institute/critical-and-ethical-mental-health/news/list/2023/10/07/news-medical-research-future-fund-grant-success">see more here</a>).&nbsp;</p>
